BRIDGES FC: BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Matt Langton Founder / Coach / Board Member
Matt grew up playing soccer in the Pittsburgh area. He went on to play at the University of Pittsburgh, where he was a team captain and 2007 team MVP. Upon graduation, he continued his soccer career with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds for two seasons. Beyond a love of playing the game, he is extremely passionate about the power that soccer has to build community and to enrich players' lives, both on and off the field. While spending time with a youth soccer nonprofit (South Bronx United) in the South Bronx, one of the poorest districts in the nation, he saw first-hand the positive impact that soccer can have on children's lives. For these reasons, he is dedicated to creating opportunities for children of all communities to receive high-level training in an encouraging playing environment. (LinkedIn)
Eric Sloan Coach / Board Member
Eric grew up in Mt. Lebanon and played soccer there throughout his childhood into High School, before continuing on to play at Allegheny College, where among other accolades, he was a 3-year captain, 4 year all-conference, and 2007 NCAC Defensive Player of the Year. He is very invested in creating and supporting an atmosphere for players that allows them to learn and prosper both on the soccer field and in every-day life. Through his previous experience coaching with Beadling Soccer Club and volunteering with TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer), and his current experience volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters, he has seen the benefits that soccer can have on any child. In his free time, Eric enjoys hanging out with his wife, daughter, and son, and currently volunteers with Big Brothers Big Sisters, 412 Food Rescue, and the Jewish Relief Agency. (LinkedIn)
Jim Langton Coach / Board Member
Jim was introduced to soccer when his family moved to State College, and he continued playing in high school and college, eventually serving as team captain at Harvard University. Although he played in open leagues after college, Jim focused on coaching when his three sons began to play. He coached rec, travel and club teams for nearly 20 years in the Pittsburgh and Philadelphia suburbs, including time as an assistant and a head coach on a number of Beadling Soccer Club teams. He has also held leadership positions in local youth soccer associations. Jim believes that when soccer is taught and played in a positive environment, it is a great way to learn about teamwork, competition, fitness, personal commitment, and different cultures. Bridges FC will provide these experiences to young people in Pittsburgh that might not otherwise have an opportunity to participate in this type of program. (LinkedIn)
